Lafayette Mittelstand Capital acquires MDEXX, a leading manufacturer of industrial fans and windings for transformers.

Weyhe | Luxembourg (Jun 2022)
Lafayette Mittelstand Capital takes over the operations, all employees, and assets of mdexx GmbH. The legal transition will take place on July 1, 2022.
“We are delighted to have found a partner in Lafayette who is investing in our company and wants to develop the business with us,” says Managing Director Bernd Schröder, who will also become Managing Director of the new group of companies. He led the mdexx business operations for several months as part of self-administration together with Dr. Stefan Weniger, Partner in the Turnaround & Restructuring division of Financial Advisory at Deloitte.

For Managing Director Schröder, the result achieved now is above all a remarkable team achievement: “I would like to thank everyone involved who has worked so constructively for us in recent months. Together we will continue on the path we have taken. We have set the course for the future.” After three years of consolidation and restructuring, mdexx can now make a fresh start.

With the transaction, the company secures the location and all around 160 jobs in Weyhe. In addition, the sale secures the future of the plant in the Czech Republic and the approximately 300 jobs there. The rescue of all jobs was only possible because all employees agreed to the restructuring collective bargaining agreement. This had previously been negotiated and decided with the responsible employee representatives. All non-unionized employees have also accepted wage cuts.
