Lafayette Mittelstand Capital acquires majority in Stahlschmidt Cable Systems (SCS), a market leader for innovative Automotive Bowden Systems

Berghausen (February 2023)

With the entry of Lafayette Mittelstand Capital, the company with its headquarters in Bad Berleburg-Berghausen, Germany, has won a new majority shareholder confirming SCS’s market leading position in Automotive Bowden Systems.

"We are very pleased that the efforts to restructure SCS Group, having demanded a great deal from the employees, are being recognized with this important step," says Managing Director Friedemann Faerber. He is responsible for the fate of the long-established company with almost 100 years of history, together with his proven management team.

The successful establishment of a production facility in Tangier (Morocco) will enable the competence center in Berghausen to be expanded into a logistics hub. In the future, quality products will be delivered worldwide from the Berghausen site. Furthermore, the technical development, quality management, prototyping and jigs and fixtures, as well as all administrative activities and and IT will continue to be based at the competence center in Berghausen.

The Siegen-Wittgenstein employers' association and the IG Metall union had actively supported the necessary reorganization process in recent years and, together with the company management to develop a forward-looking concept for SCS Germany.

Friedemann Faerber: "With the further development of the Wittgenstein site into a competence center, we are underlining the importance of the company headquarters for overall success. We continue to rely on local specialists in important areas. The fact that we are also continuing to train at the German site is a clear commitment to the future." Thus trainees as industrial mechanics, industrial clerks and logistics specialists can still be recruited at short notice for the start in August 2023, explains the managing director.
