Lafayette Signs Acquisition of Argentum Pflege

Bad Homburg / Luxembourg (2 Sep 2025): Lafayette Mittelstand Capital signed a definite agreement to acquire a portfolio of 22 care home facilities from Argentum Pflege with approximately 2,000 care places, securing about 1,600 jobs. This investment positions Lafayette to capitalize on the structural demand surplus in the German care home market. The transaction is subject to the approval of creditors and a review by antitrust authorities.

Argentum Pflege will continue to operate under its existing name. "With the entry of Lafayette Mittelstand Capital as an investor, we have found a solution for the continuation of the group and have thus preserved an important player in the care market," explained attorney Dr. Georg Bernsau, a partner at K&L Gates. Together with attorney Nadja Raiß and management consultant Ansgar Schröder, he was appointed as restructuring managing director and has comprehensively stabilized the company both legally and economically over the past few months.

Jens-Ulrich Keil, who served as Argentum Pflege's managing director for six months in 2024 will be the CEO of the new Argentum Pflege Group. He announced plans to stabilize the facilities while also exploring growth opportunities. "With Lafayette Mittelstand Capital as our new investor, we will not only strengthen the existing facilities but also evaluate other acquisition opportunities to put Argentum on a broader footing overall," Keil explained.

The purchase by Lafayette is still subject to approval from various board committees and creditors. An antitrust review is also required. The creditors' committee has already signaled its support. The officials expect the takeover to be completed by the end of September.
